Shawty was truly fire burnin' on the dance floor at ACMA's Winter Formal, "Light It Up", on January 23rd. The crowd stayed under 200 people, but there was no shortage of fun and excitement as everyone arrived to a Blue Box they'd never seen before. Fully decked out with neon splatter paint, streamers, and black lights, the room transformed into a glowing oasis.

For the first time, students were given the chance to create the playlist, and they didn't hold back. Everyone rushed to the dance floor when "Single Ladies," an ACMA dance essential, blasted from the speakers. Along with classics such as Blackstreet's "No Diggity," fresh tunes including Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" and Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" reigned most popular. The music wasn't the only thing worth staying for. Eurest Dining Services catered the event with a broad selection of tasty snacks to choose from that kept people crowded around the snack table, and Shortcake Photo provided an ever popular photo booth with lots of props to try on.

The Winter Formal Court consisted of eight lovely members with two winners from each grade. The Freshman Prince was Kevin Contreras and the Princess was Ellie Capps. For the Sophomore class, Piper Tuor and Will Armstrong took the crowns. The title of Junior Prince and Princess was given to John Blewster and Alicia Lehman. And lastly, Senior Queen and King was given to Rebecca Kahn and Charlie Capps.

"Light It Up" surely set a new standard for Winter Formal at ACMA.
